Our client is a long-standing non-profit in San Francisco who specializes in developing and managing affordable housing communities around the Bay Area. They are currently in need of a Chinese Speaking Human Resources Generalist.

 $55-65K DOE

Position Overview: 
The experienced, driven and team-oriented Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the daily operation and administration of core HR functions for over 150 employees. The Human Resources Generalist manages benefits, status changes in payroll, workers comp claims and HRIS. This position required great attention to detail and 3+ experience with payroll and benefit support in a Human Resources Generalist or Assistant Position. Additional responsibilities of the Human Resources Generalist are included in the list below.

Responsibilities of the Human Resources Generalist:

  • Handle payroll, benefits, workers compensation
  • Assist with biweekly payroll processing and administers and processes employee status changes
  • Manage and maintains HRIS system and compiles reports as needed
  • Manages and administer employee benefits, including orientation, enrollment, deletion, billing, open enrollment, contract renewal
  • Complete annual Form 5500, benefits testing, benefits reporting, fiduciary responsibilities, and audits
  • Educate employees on benefits, time-off, changes to benefits, leaves of absence, and ensures compliance with benefit laws
  • Respond to and process work injuries and claims, and communicates with appropriate personnel throughout the open claim process
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and serves as the go to person for all ergonomic needs


  • 2 years of experience in Human Resources, experience with payroll processing and benefits administration a MUST
  • 2 years of experience working with an employee (HRIS) database and creating reports
  • Excellent math calculation skills*
  • Working knowledge or wage and hour laws, specifically of federal, state, and local HR laws
  • High proficiency with MS Excel, Outlook, Word  
  • Bilingual in Chinese a plus*
  • Reliable, team oriented and friendly

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, organizational development, psychology, communications, or similar fields
  • HRCI or SHRM Certification preferred
  • Bilingual in Chinese Languages preferred
